The onboarding process has long been critical to employee engagement, as well as job satisfaction, productivity, team building, loyalty and retention. The global shift to remote work dramatically shifted the way new employees were onboarded, but companies learned an important lesson: Virtual employee onboarding can be even more successful than traditional onboarding.
By removing some of the stress that comes with traditional onboarding, it allows new hires to go through the learning process at their own pace. Using video to introduce team members and company culture allows employees to remain focused and interested, and helps them feel like they are a valuable new part of a team.
NovoEd co-founder and CTO Farnaz Ronaghi says that business and HR leaders must ensure their onboarding process is equally as effective regardless of where the new hire is based — whether in the office or at home — by designing learning experiences that combine synchronous, asynchronous and blended modalities.
